Uttarakhand , formerly Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as the “Land of the Gods”due to the many holy Hindu temples and pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty of the Himalayas, the Bhabhar and the Terai. On 9 November 2000, this 27th state of the Republic of India was carved out of the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Almora:-
Almora is located at 29.62°N 79.67°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 1,651 metres (5,417 feet). It is located on a ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon Hills of the Himalaya range. In the shape of a horse saddle shaped hillock
Chamoli :-
Chamoli is the second largest district of Uttarakhand state of India.It is bounded by the Tibet region to the north, and by the Uttarakhand districts of Pithoragarh and Bageshwar to the east, Almora to the south, Garhwal to the southwest, Rudraprayag to the west, and Uttarkashi to the northwest. The administrative headquarters of the district is Gopeshwar.
Dehradun:-
Dehradun is the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand in the northern part of India. Located in the Garhwal region, it is 236 km north of India’s capital New Delhi and is one of the “Counter Magnets” of the National Capital Region (NCR) being developed as an alternative centre of growth to help ease the migration and population explosion in the Delhi metropolitan area.
Haridwar:-
Haridwar   is an ancient city and municipality in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, India. The River Ganges, after flowing for 253 kilometres (157 mi) from its source at Gaumukh at the edge of the Gangotri Glacier, enters the Indo-Gangetic Plains of North India for the first time at Haridwar,which gave the city its ancient name, Gangadwára.
Mussoorie :-
It is a well-known hill station nestled in the Dehradun District of Uttarakhand in the region of North India. Being situated in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan ranges it is often referred to as the Queen of the Hills. In 1820, a British Army officer set up this town. Mussoorie is not only famed for its picturesque splendor but it has also urbanized into an imperative center of education and trade over the course of time. Nestled in the Himalayan foothills it reflects a royal look with its dense jungles.
Nainital:-
Naintail is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and headquarters of Nainital district in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas. Situated at an altitude of 2,084 metres (6,837 ft) above sea level, Nainital is set in a valley containing a pear-shaped lake, approximately two miles in circumference, and surrounded by mountains
Rishikesh:-
Rishikesh is a city, municipal board and a tehsil in Dehradun district of the Indian state, Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as The Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas.Rishikesh is surrounded by three other districts namely Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal and Haridwar.
Tehri Garhwal:-
Tehri Garhwal is one of the largest districts in the hill state of Uttarakhand, India. Its administrative headquarters is at New Tehri. The district has a population of 604,747 (2001 census), a 16.15% increase over the previous decade. It is surrounded by Rudraprayag District in the east, Dehradun District in the west, Uttarkashi District in the north, and Pauri Garhwal District in the south
Uttarakhashi:-
The town of Uttarkashi is considered as the Kashi of the North (Uttar). It is also known to be the abode of gods and goddesses because, just like Kashi, there are many temples dedicated to various gods and goddesses.There are over 30 temples in the town. Thousands of devotees come here during the occasion of ‘Magh Mela’ to take a holy dip along with their local deities in the waters of the Bhagirathi.
