Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur is the largest and the most populous Urban Agglomeration in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is the largest city in Jharkhand, and a major industrial zone in Eastern India . Jamshedpur is the first planned industrial city of India, founded by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. It is also known as Steel City, TataNagar or simply Tata. It was first known for its mahua trees and rassi/tarri drinkers who extracted juices from various trees and then fermented them into liquor. There is an old Indian saying “Piyo or Jiyo”.

HOW TO REACH

By Air:-
The airport close to the urban area of Jamshedpur is Ranchi which is only 150 km away. Ranchi is interlinked with Kolkata via frequent flights. Another major airport in the proximity of the place is Kolkata which is at a distance of 296 km from Jamshedpur. The place has a good connectivity with other major metropolis of the country and international terminals.You can take flights to Ranchi from major metro cities of country.

By Road:-
There are state owned transport bus services available from the city of Jamshedpur towards the major cities of India. For comfort on the journey, one can also choose Volvo bus services directly from Kolkata (280 km) to Jamshedpur. Bhubaneswar (356 km), Puri (428 km) and Darjeeling (698 km) are some more cities near Jamshedpur.

By Train:-

Established in 1937, this sports complex was started to encourage different sports and sports person belonging to Tata group and outside. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary:-

DALMA WILDLIFEDalma Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the ranges of Dalma Hills, which is 13 km from the main city. The Dalma Hills are located at a height of 3,000 ft above sea level with dense forests and Subarnarekha River. There is a wildlife sanctuary in this range, which was inaugurated by Late Sanjay Gandhi in 1975. This wildlife sanctuary covers a wide area of about 195 sq. km. Dalma sanctuary is home to barking deers, leopards and various other animals. It is an ideal destination for trekking due to its location on steep slopes.

 

 

Jubilee Park:-

JUBILEE PARKJubilee Park covers a large area of 237.75 acres and is located in the middle of the city. This park was gifted by the Tata Steel Company to the local populace for the completion of 50 years of establishment of the city in 1958. Jubilee Park, which is also known as the Mughal Garden, has been modelled like the Vrindhavan Garden of Mysore. The park features colourful fountains, Jayanti Sarovar, Smriti Udyan and Foliage Park. There is also a Nicco Park or the recreational centre in the park, where children can enjoy thrilling rides. The Tata Steel Zoological Park and the Upvan of the Jubilee Park are prominent picnic spots. Moreover, on the birth anniversary of the Shri Jamshedji Tata, the founder of the city, this park is decorated with lights and other items.

 

Tata Steel Zoological Park:-

This zoo is known for its ‘Safari Park’, which enables tourists to drive through the wooden area, where animals roam freely. Tourists can also visit the Nature Education Centre in the zoo, which gives information about the zoo animals. Other things to do in this zoo are to take a boat ride in the Jubilee Lake and walk along the Nature Trail. This Tata Steel Zoological Park also features a restaurant named ‘Machaan’, which is the best place to enjoy the local cuisine.
